Partner Up for Success
by Fernando Senra on February 07, 2013With each and every new project and client I work with, the need to develop a strategically integrated approach becomes more apparent. This also proves true for a well thought out event. In order to demonstrate the most comprehensive package, give full consideration to the varied partners and components that can make your event well rounded and present a unified front on any issue. I recently had the opportunity to take part in a unique event in Miami on behalf of my client, Ford Motor Company. The cause brought together a series of interested parties and partners to create an……
For the LOVE of the Cities: Tallahassee
by Fernando Rodriguez on February 05, 2013Love is a worn-out word. I couldn’t count how many times I’ve heard somebody say, “I love my triple grande caramel macchiato” or my wife ask me “Don’t you love how these jeans fit me?” For those reasons, I was skeptical when I opened the email that read Register to Attend the For the Love of Cities: Tallahassee + Leon County Workshop. I was invited to attend this interactive workshop sponsored by Leon County, the City of Tallahassee, Village Square and Knight Creative Communities Institute (KCCI). The guest speaker was author Peter Kageyama, who has spoken all over the world……
The Reward of Listening
by Jim Hunt on January 31, 2013It seems like 2013 just got started and we are already at the end of January. Beginning a new year is always exciting, as we typically resolve to make improvements. While not a resolution, I made a personal commitment to strive to listen better. Listening is vital - hearing what others are saying is what makes listening valuable and it ultimately has it own rewards. As we close out January I am seriously awestruck by what I have heard from business prospects and clients throughout this month. Listening is just a start - how we react, respond and produce results is what truly matters. ……

Getting Published Starts with Great Content
by Rebecca Mahony on January 09, 2013Have an opinion? Everyone does. Opinion editorials are a great way to share your views publicly. Op-eds appear opposite the editorial page in newspapers and are posted to online outlets. While an editorial page represents the official view of the media outlet, this page features the views of non-staff columnists and members of the community. There are a few things you need to know about getting your opinion published. Generally, media like the length of op-eds to be between 600 and 700 words, so being concise is valued by op-ed editors. The Dallas Morning News provides great tips for success……
Making an Impact
by Patrick Sheffield on December 21, 2012Once in a lifetime, if you’re lucky, you’ll have the opportunity to work on something that makes a big difference in your community. I was blessed with just such an opportunity in 2012 through MCG Impact. MCG Impact is Moore Communication Group’s community giving program that allows staff members to select a non-profit of their choice to which we provide $25,000 worth of in-kind communication services. I was fortunate to be one of the inaugural staff members to participate, and I selected the Big Bend Homeless Coalition. The Homeless Coalition is Tallahassee’s largest provider of safe housing for men, women……
How One Symbol Revolutionized #SocialMedia
by Eric Pounders on December 11, 2012The world is full of symbols - the dollar sign ($), the ampersand (&), Prince. One of the more commonly used symbols is the pound sign, also known as number sign represented by #. This symbol is used for a variety of purposes but is most often used for the designation of a number. In August 2007, a new social media platform would change the way this symbol is used forever. Twitter launched its social media and microblogging service in March 2006. On a summer day a little over a year later Chris Messina sent out a tweet that would……
Ask then Act
by Patrick Sheffield on November 01, 2012By now, pretty much everyone knows what social media is and how it has saturated our lives. Facebook recently announced it has 1 billion active users, Twitter has passed the half-billion mark, and LinkedIn boasts more than 175 million members. These social networks, along with scores of others, are used for personal and business purposes. The common assumption among business owners is that they need a social media presence for their business, with, at minimum, a Facebook page. Many people tend to agree with that philosophy. I hold a slightly different point-of-view. Count me among the believers in social media……
Cultivating Innovation
by Jim Hunt on October 23, 2012Next to beaches and tourism, Florida is known for its agriculture. However, most people don’t realize that state's new bumper crop is Innovation Excellence and it is being harvested through what is known as “economic gardening.” Economic gardening is the cultivation of entrepreneurial skills and support that is taking place in Florida through organizations such as GrowFL and the Edward Lowe Foundation. On Friday night these two entities celebrated and recognized 50 Florida Companies to Watch at the 2012 Gala at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando. I was honored to represent Moore Communications Group as one of honorees,……
A crisis or an opportunity?
by Fernando Senra on September 27, 2012In today’s busy world we continuously see businesses, large and small, face their own struggles that can cause them quite a bit of grief. Sometimes the crisis revolves around a product, other times it may surround a decision made by the organization’s leadership or even an external factor of which the company had no control. Whatever the cause, one thing is for sure – a company’s reputation and public relations image can be jeopardized based on how they handle a crisis. Being prepared for the unexpected is in the best interest of any business, and part of this preparedness is……
