2009 - A Positively Tweet Year
by Jim Hunt on December 30, 2009Sometimes in your life you are fortunate to be at the right place at the right time and so it was for me on Twitter in 2009. I began tweeting in March ‘08 to follow @claytonbell during the birth of his daughter Caroline. From the start I was amazed being able to share in the excitement of Caroline’s arrival. The same same energy and excitement continues and is ignited almost daily in communicating with those whom I now count as some of my closest friends via Twitter: the #PositivePosse. No coincidence, it is only divine intervention through innovation that brings……
Go Ask Alice
by Audrey Stone on December 30, 2009On August 22nd, 2009, my life was forever changed. Ever since I can remember, I have always had to commit a Saturday or a Sunday to shopping for household necessities, and as a result, I spent more money on things that weren’t a necessity (I’m an impulse buyer) and I waste precious weekend hours picking up lackluster items like paper towels and dish soap . But, on August 22nd, I learned about Alice.com, an online retail platform that is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Imagine Alice.com as your online neighborhood drug store but better. The products are often less expensive……
Representing an American Icon
by Terrie Ard on December 17, 2009This week I had the opportunity, with my colleague Audrey Stone, to brainstorm with some of the best and brightest in the communications industry at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. This team, led by Ray Day, vice president of communications has accomplished some of the most brilliant work in the industry this past year—work that will be great case studies of how to transform a company facing some of the biggest business challenges in a tough economy. As we recognized the great work of the past year and strategized on the opportunities ahead for 2010, I was so humbled……
Et tu, PPT?
by Gina Welker on December 17, 2009Like a beacon of light beckoning your audience toward your message, Power Point seems to have an almost mystical allure. When it comes to presentations, we all want to feel like PowerPoint is our best friend—but the truth is, that Power Point you spent hours constructing into an empire of bullet points, charts and flashy animation is secretly plotting to betray you the moment you step up to the podium and click to go to the next slide. Hyperbole? Perhaps, but consider how your presentation would go without the technological traitor in your midst: Your audience will listen. Too often……
Doing the Right Thing
by Karen Moore on December 17, 2009One of the things that I am most of proud here at Moore Consulting Group is our steadfast commitment to high ethical standards. It has been our philosophy since I started the firm in 1992 that “doing the right thing” matters! In these times of economic uncertainty and turbulence, it is even more important to stand by this. I have often said you only have two things in life: your family and your reputation. I believe successful ethical businesses must have a few key commitments. First, they must communicate accurate and truthful information with employees and customers. False advertisement, misleading……
