Breaking Through in Brainstorming
by Patrick Sheffield on December 16, 2010One of my favorite things about working for an integrated communications firm like Moore Consulting Group is brainstorming. I find that actively participating in brainstorming sessions stirs my creativity and energizes me throughout the day. While used regularly at firms like ours, brainstorming shouldn’t be confined to creative agencies alone. Whether it’s coming up with a great new idea or solving a problem, every type of business can benefit from brainstorming. While there aren’t really “rules” for brainstorming, there are some simple tips to help get the most out of the session. At Moore Consulting Group, we aim to do……
Working Smarter in 2011
by Shannon Colavecchio on December 15, 2010‘Tis the season for reevaluating the year past and using lessons learned as a compass for making next year a better one. We do it in our personal lives, and we do it in our professional lives. For whatever reason, we wait until December to begin such self-reflection: Did I exercise enough? Did I keep in touch with friends enough? Were my work hours well spent? What do I have to show for it? Could my business have been more profitable? National Cupcake Day
by Katie Spillman on December 15, 2010December 15, 2010, is National Cupcake Day, but in honor of this week’s final weigh-ins for the Moore Consulting Group Wellness Challenge, many MCGers will not be taking part in this especially sweet holiday which recognizes an American icon since the 19th Century – the cupcake. Although, who knows, if The Cake Shop were still located across the street it might be an entirely different story. With holiday parties in full swing, I am sure we all have……
Life Flights
by Jim Hunt on December 13, 2010Recent airline travel for a vacation trip to Chicago offered an excellent opportunity for me to observe some important life lessons that are often overlooked during hectic business trips. Leisure travel with my wife made me aware of some simple travel truths experienced that are easily translated to our daily life flight. There has always been a cost for excess baggage. When the airlines started charging for extra baggage, folks were in an uproar. Truth is we pay daily for all the excess baggage we personally haul around. It definitely affects our balance, power consumption and altitude. Pressurized cabins require……
Giving for a Lifetime
by Karen Moore on December 09, 2010In this wonderful season of giving, I want to share an opportunity to give a special gift that will be appreciated throughout the year. It is a gift that can change a life! Several years ago, my husband Richard and I created the Richard and Karen Moore Scholarship at Tallahassee Community College. The scholarship helps women return to school and ultimately back into the workforce. This year, the scholarship was given to a wonderful student Lorna, who is going back to school to become a teacher. She was raised in an impoverished region of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil and……
