Sacred Cows Make the Best… Brisket?
by David Frady on September 30, 2011One of my guilty pleasures on television is a show called BBQ Pitmasters. The show follows several professional “pitmasters” as they travel the nation competing for money and pride in regional BBQ competitions. Judges assign scores based on taste, smoke ring and presentation. Contestants win awards for individual types of BBQ ranging from chicken, pork ribs and beef brisket before an overall grand-champion is crowned. Top events attract hundreds of competitors and more than half a million spectators. Prizes at these events range from a cool t-shirt at local events to tens of thousands of dollars at national events. Many……
It’s all about the Presentation
by Patrick Sheffield on September 27, 2011Working in marketing and public relations and coming from a retail background, I find that I’m very critical of retail stores. I dissect every part of the shopping experience from customer service to presentation. More often than not I find something to fault the store for and face very little impulse to buy. There is one giant exception to this rule: The Fresh Market. From the moment I walk in the doors I’m the proverbial putty in corporate hands. Simply walking into the store makes me love drunk. They’ve got specials written on chalkboards at the entrance, colorful stacks of fresh……

by Katie Spillman on September 26, 2011In light of our recent recognitions here at Moore Consulting Group: Florida Trend’s Best Companies to Work for and Inc Magazine’s Fastest Growing Companies in America, I felt inclined to write about my perspective of what it’s really like to be part of one of Florida’s Best Companies to Work for. It has been a whirlwind year for us at Moore Consulting Group, and each of our recognitions is an achievement that further underscores the passion and dedication of our leaders and team members. When asked what it’s like to work for one of the best companies in Florida, I……
The Business Card Chronicles
by Fernando Rodriguez on September 09, 2011In my wallet I keep an item that has the potential to open doors, build relationships and increase profits…my business cards. According to BBC, the exchange of these lightweight 3.5” x 2” pieces of cardstock is a ritual that goes back as far as business itself. Business cards are a reflection of who you are and should be consistent with your brand. Hugh Butler, Senior Sales Representative of Graphateria, states that “your card should provide fool-proof response information, in other words, if you need three phone numbers, fax, postal and physical address, along with Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn you’re including……
The Automotive Love Affair: A 10-Year Snap Shot
by Audrey Morris on September 01, 2011As I approach nearly a decade of working in the automotive industry, I realized so much of what I’ve come to learn about the business world has been shaped by my unique perspective of America’s love affair with the automobile. When I was 15 years old, I realized that it was time to put a plan in place to ensure I had a vehicle of my own upon receiving my driver’s license. Of course, the underlying driver of that plan was to earn some money, and quick! I went (yes-went and not “online”) to the mall and applied for any……
