Slamming the Spammers
by Nanette Schimpf on November 25, 2008Spam is something we have to deal with, but I (like millions of others out there) are thrilled with the Facebook verdict. Facebook won $873 million in damages from a spammer, the largest award to date under the Can-Spam Act. Rock on! Surely they will not collect most of it. But talk about a deterrent. Social media sites provide an entirely new platform for spammers (and other unethical companies). Content on social media sites continues to climb, and spammers are inventing new ways to get around the spam filters. Their latest strategy is to leave unique comments that make them seem……

The lyrics may be truer than ever when you think about mixing new and traditional media; this thought struck me right in the eye last week while I was standing in line at a local Starbucks in Tallahassee.……
Travel and New Media
by Fernando Senra on April 20, 2009As I look toward next year’s vacation (yes- I’m a big planner), I’m starting to take advantage of all the new technology ready to assist me on how best to spend my hard-earned money on rest and relaxation. I’m determined to visit Europe in 2010 – a sort of personal goal. I’ve been researching travel options such as cruises, strictly-guided tours, loosely-guided tours, carefully planned self travel, and fly by the seat of your pants travel. The options are overwhelming and there are truly ups and downs to each. I’ve started to incorporate the help of travel blogs, travelogues, and……
The Explorer Reveal
by Nanette Schimpf on August 18, 2010The all new 2011 Ford Explorer was launched in less than a dozen cities across the U.S. in conjunction with Ford’s Facebook page¾and Florida was one of the lucky states to be the first to greet the sleek, much-anticipated superstar. Trust me…I don’t use the term “superstar” lightly. The Explorer was trucked secretly inside a non-descript trailer along America’s highway from Michigan to Miami. Non-descript is the last thing the Explorer would be called. It was cloaked in secrecy among palm trees at the Raleigh Hotel in South Beach while hotel staff guarded the shrouded Explorer as if it contained……
Sincerity + Relevance = Brilliance
by Nanette Schimpf on January 12, 2011As various social media channels demand our attention during waking hours, the content that rises above the rest shares at least two characteristics: sincerity and relevance. The content is delivered by a sincere voice who has passion for the topic, which makes the content relevant to those who are interested. If the content is also relevant to the reader, the line between them is drawn and they share a connection. The content has, in that moment, made an impact and rises above the rest. The heart of what we do, and who we are, is that about which we are……
