Honoring the man behind 30 Years
by Terrie Ard on July 24, 2009As the President of the Florida Public Relations Association Capital Chapter Board of Directors I had the distinguished honor to present The Communicator of the Year Award yesterday evening at the Annual Roast and Toast event. This was a special evening of “Glitz and Glamour” as we rolled out the red carpet to honor Tallahassee Mayor John Marks. The Communicator of the Year Award is given to an individual in the Tallahassee area who utilizes his or her position to enhance community awareness, understanding and support for causes and issues through the use of communications and public relations skills. What is your story?
by Terrie Ard on July 30, 2009Today I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with one of the most genuine, interesting people I have ever met. The Florida Public Relations Association Capital Chapter hosted Tom Preston, executive director of the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security, as the moderator of our crisis communications workshop. This workshop was informative with a panel of who’s who in law enforcement and communications in Florida: Scott McAllister, Deputy Homeland Security Advisor, Florida Department of Law Enforcement; Gwen Keenan, Chief of the Bureau of Preparedness, Florida Division of Emergency Management; David McCranie, Public Information Officer, Tallahassee Police Department; Mike Vasilinda, CEO,……

Moore Consulting Group was off to the races and turned down the homestretch with the following seven awards: American Lung Association “BreatheIn” Newsletter/Image Award Ford Motor Company’s My Key Tour/Award of Distinction Lilly: Access to Mental Health Services Training Program/Award of Distinction Employ Florida Banner Centers: Rebranding……
The Power of the Ask
by Emily Read on March 21, 2011I love classical music, especially stringed instruments like the violin. The Washington Post recruited internationally-acclaimed violinist Joshua Bell to play in the metro station at L’Enfant Plaza in Washington, D.C. during morning rush hour to see how many people would stop to listen and how much money he would make from the incognito performance. The award-winning virtuoso, who commands ticket prices of $100 plus in sold-out concert halls, made a……
Crowing the Kings and Queens of PR
by Jamie Fortune on April 29, 2011It was billed as an “Evening of Royalty” as the Florida Public Relations Association’s Capital Chapter gathered to recognize outstanding public relations programs during the 2011 Image Awards. Guests showed up in their royal best—crowns, tiaras and all—to witness the crowning of this year’s kings and queens of communication. But before the winners were announced, the Chapter honored Moore Consulting Group’s senior vice president Terrie Glover Ard, APR, CPRC with the Stanley Tait Professional Award for Service, the Capital Chapter’s highest, most prestigious honor. Terrie received the award for her outstanding and long lasting contributions to FPRA and to the……
